Beach Yoga Class & Teacher Training Graduation Celebration

Time: 3:00- 4:00pm Beach Yoga Class followed by Graduation Celebration

Join PYT’s teacher trainees as they co-teach a beach yoga class as their final requirement for teacher training. Join us on Marcinski Beach (Beach Marker 25/26) for a Slow Flow Class followed by a potluck celebration across the street at the Marcinski Pavilion. Feel free to bring friends, family, children and pets!

Love through Massage

This Valentine’s Day, tune into yourself and honor your own unique spirit with love through massage! Join us for a fun, interactive massage workshop focusing on relaxation techniques for the mind and body.
Bring yourself or come with a friend, as we will be partnering up for an opportunity to learn and practice various massage techniques such as:
-pressure points
-soft tissue massage
-thai massage ( a form of passive yoga)
-aromatherapy
Leave feeling peaceful, rejuvenated and relaxed!

Foundations of the Flow

Learn the foundation of our practice at PYT! We will review and practice breath, core stabilization and alignment of key poses so that you can have a more empowered and safe practice. Explore Downward Facing Dog, High to Low Push-Up, Upward Facing Dog, as well as twists and backbends. You will learn how to avoid common injuries and find more strength and ease in your practice. Beneficial to all, from brand new yogi to advanced practitioner. If it has been over a year since you took this workshop, now is the time to take it again!

An Intro to Understanding the Chakras

“Chakra” is the Sanskrit word for wheel. According to Vedic knowledge, there are multiple channels in our body. At the points where these come together to form a central vortex of energy is known as a chakra.

Join us in learning about the 7 Chakras. Explore how to use them to fine-tune your life and yoga practice according to your unique personality and circumstances. Understanding the chakras allows us to see the relationship between our consciousness and our body. By practicing a yogic life that corresponds to each chakra, we can clear the path to better living and higher consciousness.

Yoga Anatomy

This interactive basic anatomy course is designed for yoga teachers and serious yoga students who want to improve their understanding of the musculoskeletal system during movement and poses.

You Will Learn:

-Anatomical vocabulary to assist further independent study of the body;

-The structure and function of major joints;

-How specific muscles create specific joint movement in poses;

-How to teach your students to use ground reaction forces to change the forces across their joints in poses;

-Modifications for progression, injury and skeletal variations;

-The role of soft tissue (ligaments, joint capsules, muscles);

-Proper mechanics for assisting poses;

-Strategies for yoga class design to reduce risk of injury.

Teacher’s Assistant Certification

Join Christen Scott, ERYT-500, for this hands-on, fun-filled weekend. Assisting is not about fixing a student’s alignment; it is about offering ease and possibility to students. Learn alignment principles and how to create muscle memory for your students so they can experience a more empowered practice. You will learn how to assist a student in class (an in-class private) and an entire room full of students. We will explore yoga philosophy and how it pertains to being a teacher’s assistant. By the end of this training, you will assist an entire power yoga class! Whether you are looking to deepen your own practice, get a taste of what teacher training is like, or for teachers wanting to sharpen their assisting skills, this is the training for you. Yoga Teachers earn 14 CEU credits with Yoga Alliance in Techniques, Training and Practice.

 Tuition includes unlimited classes at PYT from 4/10- 4/12/15.

Radiant Child Yoga Program- Teacher Training Immersion (Spring 2015)

Dates: April 18th & 19th and May 2nd & 3rd

Time: 11:00am- 6:45pm

Fee: $670 early bird pricing (by March 18th); $780 (after March 18th)

Fee includes tuition and materials (manuals, books, downloaded music, DVD).

As developed by Shakta Kaur Khalsa. This is a certification program for yoga teachers, school teachers, parents, therapists, daycare workers, nannies, and anyone else interested in learning how to teach yoga to children. This insightful program is designed for all yoga traditions and for all levels of experience with children and/or yoga. This program allows children to get in touch with themselves through the use of postures and meditation. It gives children an operating manual for their little bodies to develop themselves to their full potential- physically, mentally, and spiritually.

A Taste of Mindfulness

with Gus Castellanos, M.D.

Date: Sunday, April 26th

Time: 4:00- 6:00pm

This workshop introduces the basics of mindfulness meditation as taught in the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, and emphasizes Mindfulness as a practice that cultivates one’s internal resources for coping with Life Stresses, as well as for healing in the truest sense of its meaning – Wholeness.  Gus will lead basic mindfulness practices as well as discuss the neuroscience and underpinnings of Mindfulness.

Gus Castellanos, M.D. attended the University of Miami undergraduate and Medical School, receiving his M.D. degree in 1980. He trained at Emory & Georgetown Universities, and MD Anderson Tumor Institute at the University of Texas, Houston. He received board certification in Neurology in 1987 and in Sleep Medicine in 1994. He practiced Neurology & Sleep Medicine in South Florida until retiring in Jan. 2007 to pursue meditation and metaphysical studies.

He is a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) & meditation teacher and practitioner, trained by the University of Massachusetts’ Center for Mindfulness. He currently teaches at a variety of facilities and venues through out South Florida, including the Palm Beach Cancer Institute’s Sari Asher Center, U of Miami Medical Wellness Center, Kula Yoga Shala and has taught at the Hanley-Caron Center and A New Day Treatment Center, Jupiter Medical Center, Hospice of Palm Beach County. He serves as an advisor to Integrative Medicine Department at Jupiter Medical Center and is currently involved in mindfulness research with the Mindfulness Based Attention Training program at theUniversity of Miami Neuroscience Lab.
