Doga: Yoga for Yogi & Doggie

with Ashley Miceli, ERYT-200 & Wynnton

Date: Sunday, October 26th

Time: 6:00pm- 7:00pm

Where: Marcinski Beach (Beach Marker 25/26)

Fee: Donation-based (all proceeds benefitting Big Dog Ranch)

Join Ashley and her maltese, Wynnton for a fun-filled, sunset, beach yoga class at Marcinski Beach (Beach Marker 25/26). This will be a fun practice designed specifically for dogs and their owners.  Halloween costumes are optional for you and your dog.  Proceeds will benefit Big Dog Ranch.

 

PYT’s 2 Year Anniversary Beach Yoga Class & Pot-Luck Party

Date: Saturday, November 8th

Time: 4:00pm- whenever

Join us for a Complimentary Beach Yoga Class led by all the PYT teachers at Marcinski Beach (Beach Marker 25/26).  This will be a Slow Flow Class, accessible to anyone.  Immediately following the practice, we will be heading across the street to the Marcinski Pavilion for a Pot-Luck Party.  Feel free to bring family, friends, and even pets.  We are looking forward to celebrating with our Tribe.

 

Yoga Anatomy

Dates: Friday, November 14th- Sunday, November 16th

Time: Friday (11/14) 6:00pm- 10:00pm, Saturday (11/15) 8:00am- 6:00pm, Sunday (11/16) 8:00am- 4:00pm

Fee: $495 early bird (until 11/9); $595 after 11/9/14

This interactive basic anatomy course is designed for yoga teachers and serious yoga students who want to improve their understanding of the musculoskeletal system during movement and poses. 

You Will Learn:

  • Anatomical vocabulary to assist further independent study of the body;
  • The structure and function of major joints;
  • How specific muscles create specific joint movement in poses; 
  • How to teach your students to use ground reaction forces to change the forces across their joints in poses;
  • Modifications for progression, injury and skeletal variations;
  • The role of soft tissue (ligaments, joint capsules, muscles);
  • Proper mechanics for assisting poses;
  • Strategies for yoga class design to reduce risk of injury. 

 

Yoga for Back & Shoulder Pain

Date: Saturday, November 15th

Time: 4:00pm- 6:00pm

Fee: $35 in advance; $40 at the door

This workshop is for yogis and non-yogis alike who experience back pain or shoulder pain while exercising or during their daily life.  You will learn the anatomy of common spinal and shoulder problems.  You will also be guided on how to use yoga postures to strengthen your core muscles and your shoulder girdle, how to modify yoga postures that cause discomfort and proper progression for your exercise program.

Yoga for Golfers

Time: 7:30pm- 8:45pm

Fee: $30 in advance; $35 at the door

Yoga for golf is one of the best ways for you to improve and restore optimal functional movement patterns which will maximize your golf performance.  This is because yoga teaches you proper breathing techniques and improves muscle endurance, internal strength, stability and balance.  Some common benefits include: building strength and stability in your spine to reduce back fatigue, increasing power in your swing, as well as lessening the strain on the body due to the asymmetry inherent in the sport.  Aside from the physical benefits, there are also numerous mental/psychological benefits from yoga that can significantly impact on your game.  Dr. Christen Scott, the Yoga Shrink, will close the practice with a guided visualization geared towards optimal performance.

Thanksgiving Celebration Practice

 Start your Thanksgiving Day with a powerful vinyasa yoga practice! You will detox before you retox and focus on the intention of Love and gratitude.

Burn the Bird

After indulging in Thanksgiving festivities, join us the next day for a sweaty, detoxifying vinyasa practice with a few bootcamp moves!  Rinse out your body and leave feeling cleansed, renewed and ready to embark on the rest of the holiday season!
