Easing into the Flow
with Christen & Preston Scott
Date: Saturday, March 29, 2014
Fee: $35 in advance; $40 at the door
A follow-up workshop to Foundations of the Flow!
Now that you understand the breath, core stabilization and the alignment of key poses, this workshop will help you access ease and power in the more challenging poses of our practice. Join us as we investigate balancing poses and backbends along with powerful transitions like jumping forward and back from poses. We will also explore the key elements of the basic arm balances and inversions in our practice. This workshop picks up where Foundations of the Flow left off and allows you to take your practice somewhere new and different.
Karma Yoga Service Trip to Nicaragua
with Christen Scott, Psy.D., ERYT-500 &
Elizabeth Auten, MSW, RYT-200
Dates: August 2nd (Saturday)- August 7, 2014 (Thursday)
6 days and 5 nights of yoga, service, and community building on the beaches of Jiquilillo, Nicaragua. A life-changing experience.
Tuition: $1195 includes 5 nights of beachfront accommodations in a rustic and simple lodge, 3 delicious, authentically-prepared meals a day (Saturday dinner through Thursday breakfast), secure air-conditioned transportation to and from Managua airport, 1-2 yoga practices a day, daily group discussions, daily community action projects, an estuary boat tour, and use of surfboards, kayaks and paddleboards.
Spend your days playing, practicing yoga, and meeting locals and spend your evenings watching the breathtaking sunsets as the fishing boats head out to sea for the night.
This retreat is unique in that we encourage participants to interact with locals throughout every day. The possibilities to connect are endless: practice yoga alongside local youth, volunteer in local schools, play baseball on the beach with locals, cook and serve food within an impoverished community at the Chindega garbage dump, or go out on a boat with local fisherman. A significant part of your tuition will provide a donation to Shakti Youth Project (www.shaktiyouthproject.org) and support local projects in Jiquilillo, Nicaragua. Just by joining the trip, you are investing in this vibrant and welcoming community!
Transportation: While all in-country transportation is provided, you are responsible for your own transportation to/from Managua. We ask that you arrange for flights that arrive before 1:30pm on Saturday, August 2nd and return no earlier than 12pm on Thursday, August 7th. If you must fly at other times or if your travel is delayed, you will be charged an additional $120 transport fee. We encourage you to invest in travel insurance for your trip.
